About Hana Sato
Cooking for two in about four square metres. Nothing here needs equipment you do not already own, and nothing takes longer than the time between getting home and being too hungry to care.

The end-of-week bowl: whatever is left in the drawer, roasted hard, over yesterday's rice. Ginger and lime at the end, off the heat. Twenty minutes, one tray, and it is the meal I actually look forward to.

Sunday is three bowls and a knife. If the vegetables are cut on Sunday I cook all week; if they are not, I order in by Tuesday. That is the entire system.

Stop cutting tomatoes with a serrated knife. Sharpen the one you have, take the weight off, let it fall through. Ten seconds of maintenance a week and you get this instead of a squashed thing bleeding on the board.

Four square metres, two burners, no oven for the first three years. Everything I know about cooking I learned because I did not have room to do it the way the books said.
