  Bought in 1981, serviced twice, dropped down a scree slope in 2019 and still meters within a third of a stop. It has no battery, no menu and no opinion about what I am doing. Thirty rolls a year go through it.

  Two hours up, forty minutes sitting there, one frame. This is the forty minutes.

  Same week, same film stock, two hundred kilometres apart. I did nothing to either of these afterwards. Whatever you have been told about needing to add the colour back — you do not.

  The most expensive thing I own is the thing I lose most often. Six caps in four years. If you find one on a ridge in Mendoza, it is probably mine.

  Walked four hours in for this and the guide had been sitting beside it eating lunch for twenty minutes.

  It rained for the entire eleven days and I came home with four photographs I would keep. Some trips are like that, and the ones that are never make it onto anybody's grid.
