A 1974 lens, reversed, on a balcony in the middle of a city of eleven million. He sat still for about four seconds, which in this work is a very long time.

Nothing here was planted on purpose. The daisy arrived in a bag of compost, the hydrangea was a rescue from a bin behind a shop, and the marigolds turn up every year without being asked. Four square metres.

Eleven days from a seed I was fairly sure was dead. I have photographed mountains and I have photographed this, and I know which one made me stand up too quickly.
