Five forty this morning. Eight kilometres at a pace slow enough to be embarrassing, which is exactly what it was written to be. Easy days easy is the whole plan and it is the one everybody skips.

Two sessions a week in here is what kept nine of my eleven runners uninjured through the block. Nobody signs up for a marathon wanting to do this. Everybody who finished one did it anyway.

Rest day, in theory. Played for ninety minutes and lost to a seventy-one-year-old who has never run a step in his life. Humbling and good for me.

Race report, short version: went out eleven seconds a kilometre too fast, paid for it from twenty-nine onwards, finished four minutes down on the plan and would not change a thing about the training. The plan was fine. I was impatient.
