Spent the day in a real one so I can stop pretending the cupboard at home is comparable. It is not. But the cupboard has had better uptime this quarter, which I will be mentioning until somebody stops me.

Forty minutes in and the thing that surprised me is not the display, it is the weight distribution. Everybody reviews the pixels. Nobody reviews the neck.

Every switch on that panel now runs off the rack in the spare room instead of somebody else's cloud. Took a weekend, saved about nine hundred rupees a month, and the lights still work when the internet does not.

Fourteen years of this and the only lesson that has held: the outage is never the thing you monitored. Write down what broke, in a file, on the day. Future you will not remember and will not forgive you.
